BLUF: I have COLON CANCER.
On Wednesday 3/15/17, I got home after "Clinical" for IDC school (grad date: 4/7/17) around 6:00 pm. I was not feeling very good had some nagging lower back pain for no good reason and mild lower abdominal discomfort. I woke up at 8:00 pm feeling feverish and lower right abdominal pain intensified. I took my temp with Eva's "ear" thermometer it read 101.8... So lower right abdominal pain with 101 temp. I was concerned that I might have developed a cocktail party wears in yellow ... ppendicitis... We went to the ER here at Balboa Hospital.
Arrived at ER around 9:00 pm. Checked and my temp went down to 98.9. Got pulled back to be seen at 11:00 pm. After talking to me and my history of signs and symptoms they ordered me a CT scan to rule out appendicitis. The CT ruled out appendicitis... it found a mass in my colon and multiple "lesions" on my liver and my left ureter is wider than my right side. These results got me admitted inpatient and a colonoscopy to explore findings.
I had my colonoscopy on Friday at 11:00 am. It revealed a 10 cm, friable, necrotic mass (cancer). Biopsies are still pending.
I am home now managing pain with medications. Waiting on biopsy results and information from the Tumor Board.
I am asking for prayer for my family and I with muster seed faith... got a 10 cm mountain to move.
Also I want to take some of you all along with me into battle (future chemo like appt). So if you want to join me in on this battle send me a motivational T-shirt and I'll wear it on my front lines!!!
Lastly I want to thank my loving wife for her love, support, kindness, care... the list goes on. Thea, you are and will always be the love of my life!
Please understand it is hard for Thea and I to reply quickly. We are doing our best to keep everyone in the loop. Right now it will have to be us posting at our pace. Some days are going to be worse than others.
